This is a story for young people even though the person in the story was a young university student. It’s a good story as she owned a small puppy dog.

Have you ever seen a puppy Samiod? They are so cute. All white with long hair, they look like a ball of cotton wool. In the snow they can stay warm and it is very easy for them to hide.

The big girl’s name was Monica and her first job was to train the puppy to go wee, wee outside. Morning after morning Monica would take the puppy outside and say many times “Twinkle.” Then finally the puppy did twinkle and Monica was so happy as she didn’t have to clean up the mess. From then on the puppy was called Twinkle.

Twinkle was a wonderful dog who never would try to bite anyone, but he did growl quietly if any stranger came to visit Monica’s house. Even though Twinkle was so young it did not stop him becoming a hero.

One night at Two AM in the morning Twinkle started growling very quietly. Monica woke up in a fright. Something must be wrong, someone must be outside in the dark.

Did you know that dogs have far better hearing than humans? Monica got out of bed making sure to leave the lights turned off, then she crept around the windows looking out to see if any bad men were about and sure enough there were three bad men breaking into the house next door. Monica was brave. She rang 111 on her cell phone.

“Do you require the police ambulance or fire brigade? Asked a friendly man.”

“Police please.”

“Hello this is the police please explain your emergency.”

“Sir” said Monica “three men are breaking into the next door house, my puppy woke me up.”

“Your name and where do you live please?” asked the policeman.

My name is Monica and I live at number ten Manning Street, the burglars are in number twelve.”

“Monica stay on the phone. Don’t turn your lights on and don’t go outside we are coming.”

The police were smart. They stopped their cars in the next street and ran on foot to all sides of the house. Monica could see the police creeping down the side of the house. Twinkle started growling again.

“Shush, quite.” Commanded Monica.

The head police man pulled his gun out and called out in a very loud voice,

“Police! Come out with you hands on your head, you are surrounded!”

Monica Cuddled Twinkle and looked through the curtains. It was so exciting Monica heart was going Thump, Thump like it was trying to jump out of her chest. The police van took the robbers away with hand cuff on. Then Monica’s door bell rang.

“Police here you can turn off your phone now.”

Monica let the policeman in and he thanked her being a good citizen and informing the police about the robbers, but really it was Twinkle who was the hero.

It had been a very exciting night. Those robbers still don’t know how they got caught. The answer was dogs have very sensitive hearing.
