Chapter 1: The Birthday Party
It was a sunny Saturday morning. Lily and her friends were excited because today was Lily’s birthday party. Her friends Tom, Sara, and Max were coming over. They planned to play games, eat cake, and have lots of fun.
Lily’s mom baked a big, delicious chocolate cake with rainbow sprinkles. The cake was beautiful, and everyone couldn’t wait to taste it.
Chapter 2: The Disappearance
Just before the party started, Lily went to check on the cake. She opened the kitchen door and gasped. The cake was gone! Lily ran to tell her mom.
“Mom! The cake is missing!” she cried.
Her mom looked surprised. “That’s strange. I just left it on the table.”
Lily’s friends arrived, and she told them about the missing cake. They decided to become detectives and solve the mystery.
Chapter 3: The Clues
The four friends started looking for clues in the kitchen. Tom found some crumbs on the floor.
“Look! Maybe these crumbs will lead us to the cake,” he said.
Sara noticed the back door was slightly open. “Maybe someone took the cake outside,” she suggested.
Max found a trail of chocolate smudges leading to the garden. “Let’s follow these marks,” he said.
Chapter 4: The Investigation
The kids followed the chocolate trail through the garden. They saw more crumbs near the big oak tree. Suddenly, they heard a rustling sound.
“What’s that noise?” Lily whispered.
They tiptoed closer and saw a squirrel nibbling on something. It was a piece of the cake!
Chapter 5: The Culprit
“Oh no! The squirrel is eating our cake!” Sara exclaimed.
Lily giggled. “I guess the squirrel wanted to join the party.”
Tom laughed, “We solved the mystery!”
They watched the squirrel for a while. It seemed very happy with its stolen treat.
Chapter 6: The Solution
Lily’s mom came outside to see what was happening. When they told her about the squirrel, she laughed too.
“We can make another cake together,” she said. “And this time, we’ll keep it safe.”
The friends went back inside and helped Lily’s mom bake a new cake. They had fun mixing the ingredients and decorating it with even more sprinkles.
Chapter 7: The Party
Finally, the new cake was ready. Lily and her friends sang “Happy Birthday” and enjoyed the delicious cake. They played games, laughed, and had a wonderful time.
Lily was happy. Even though the first cake was taken by a sneaky squirrel, her birthday party turned out to be the best one ever.
